Chris Moedritzer - Varsity Head Coach, 2011 to Present

Chris Moedritzer returns for his fifteenth season as varsity coach of the Garfield Bulldogs baseball team. During his tenure as head coach, the Bulldogs have won the WIAA Academic Achievement Award for 4A Baseball twice (2012 & 2013) and earned the program’s first playoff finish in over two decades (2013). The 2015 team won 15 games and finished one game short of qualifying for the state tournament. Chris was voted by his baseball coaching peers as the 2015 Metro League Coach of the Year.

Student athlete participation in baseball at Garfield has increased by about 50% since Coach Moedritzer took over as head coach in 2011, allowing the program to field a Freshman/Sophomore C-Team last year in addition to Junior Varsity and Varsity.

Coach Moedritzer was previously a Varsity assistant coach for the Garfield Bulldogs from 2008 to 2010. He also has experience coaching youth baseball for Roosevelt-University-Greenlake Little League and rec league basketball for Ravenna Eckstein Community Center in Seattle.

Coach Moedritzer graduated from Garfield High School in 2003 and was a four-year varsity starter at right field, second base, and first base for the Bulldogs. He earned a bachelor’s degree with a dual major in Government-History and played four seasons of collegiate baseball at Claremont McKenna College in California. Chris currently works in Seattle as a personal trainer with multiple training certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
